How many potentially great songs never get finished because the artist decides way too early that they suck?
In this clip from The Chris & Mike Show, Adam DeGraide shares one of his biggest rules when it comes to songwriting:
Finish every song. Even the shitty ones.
Not every song is going to be a hit. Hell, some of them might be terrible. But finishing the song teaches you something that abandoning it halfway through never will.
You learn songwriting. Arrangement. What works. What doesn't. And sometimes that song you were ready to throw away takes a turn and becomes something completely different.
Adam's philosophy is simple: stop trying to make every idea perfect before you've even finished creating it.
Write it. Finish it. Listen to it.
Then decide if it's shitty. 😂
