Soul Garage: A Fusion of Influences 🎸
What happens when two musicians bring completely different influences into the same garage?
You get Soul Garage.
In this short from The Chris & Mike Show, Shae and Nate talk about the wide range of music that has influenced them and how those sounds eventually started blending into something of their own.
From the darker, heavier sounds of Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, and plenty of music in between, Soul Garage isn't trying to fit neatly into one musical box.
And that's part of what makes it interesting.
Chris and Mike talk with Nate and Shae about how those influences show up differently in their songwriting, vocals, guitar playing, production, and overall approach to making music.
The goal isn't to become the next version of one of their favorite bands.
It's taking pieces of everything they've loved, mixing it with their own experiences, and eventually reaching the point every artist wants to reach:
When people hear the song, they don't hear your influences anymore. They hear YOU.
That's the sound Soul Garage is building.
