The Power of Texting in Relationships
Can texting actually help you communicate better with your partner?
It can, when you use it the right way.
In this short from The Chris & Mike Show, Coach Keith Dorscht talks with Chris and Mike about how texting can sometimes be a surprisingly useful communication tool in relationships.
When emotions are high, face to face conversations can quickly turn into interruptions, defensive reactions, raised voices, or saying something you immediately wish you could take back. A thoughtful text can give both people a chance to slow down, process what they're feeling, and choose their words more carefully.
But the idea isn't to hide behind your phone or resolve every disagreement through text.
Sometimes texting can simply open the door to the real conversation.
It can give your partner a heads up about what's bothering you, explain something you're struggling to say out loud, or help both people enter a difficult conversation with a better understanding of where the other person is coming from.
Chris, Mike, and Coach Keith discuss how the goal isn't choosing between texting and talking.
The goal is connection.
And if a text helps you get there without turning the living room into World War III... maybe put those thumbs to work. 😂
