Five and a half hours to get there. A two-minute audition. Then five and a half hours back.
Shadow C. LaValley shares what it took to make it to an open casting call for Escape at Dannemora. He drove to the audition after a shift at Denny’s, performed, and later learned Ben Stiller liked his audition and wanted him for a featured-extra role. On the way home, exhausted, Shadow had to pull over and sleep in his car before continuing the drive.
For Shadow, that trip is about more than one audition. It reflects the persistence and reliability he believes actors need: when an opportunity matters, you make the effort and show up. What’s the furthest you’ve ever traveled for a chance to pursue something you wanted?
